Do Institute students get time off?

Institute students receive time off for holidays as well as 3 vacation days that can be used with approval from a director.

What compensation is offered for SWO Institute students?

Institute students receive compensation in the form of free housing as well as a monthly stipend. Meals are provided during training and during all events and camps at SWO. Students are also encouraged to raise support.

What is the day to day life of an Institute student like?

The day to day schedule of an Institute student is ever-changing. On a weekly basis, students will attend classes, tutor local elementary school students, work on the grounds doing various tasks, and will work with Jr. High and High School students during retreats/ camps. Retreat and camp work includes serving meals, camp upkeep, working recreation, building relationships with students, and leading share groups. Outside of work hours, Institute students are encouraged to be involved in a local church and the community of Andrews.

Are the college courses offered through an accredited institution?

Yes. We have a partnership with The College at Southeastern. The College at Southeastern is a school of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary is a private not-for-profit institution accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the Commission on Accrediting of The Association of Theological Schools.

Do I have to be former SWO Summer Staff to apply?

Institute students typically work one summer at Snowbird before joining the Snowbird Institute.

What is the SWO Institute application deadline?

The application is available each summer (specific date to be announced). Students will be notified of their acceptance by an announced date.

Are students required to bring a vehicle?

Students may bring their vehicle but it is not required.
