She loves that SWO is “rooted in the Gospel” and “unwavering truth.” She is compelled to serve here because of the men and women who are daily fighting to pursue their own holiness.

As a young girl, Morgan did not grow up in a Christian home, but was encouraged and discipled by believing grandparents. It wasn’t until she came to SWO in 2017 that she realized her need for Christ. The Lord deeply convicted her of her sin, and led her to repentance and faith. Since that moment, the Lord has shown his faithfulness to her and sustains her by his all-sufficient grace.

Daniel Colt Christmas is from Zuni, VA. He came to summer camp as a camper from 2015 – 2018. Despite never thinking that he would work at a camp, he obviously had a change of heart. The Lord showed him that his life was to be used in ministry, and Colt worked his first summer in 2019 and spent two years in the Snowbird Institute.

Today, Colt is our transportation assistant. He maintains Snowbird’s fleet of cars, vans, and buses. Colt is compelled to work at camp for two reasons: because its foundation is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and because the glory of Jesus is of the utmost importance. Colt was married in January of 2023 to Mady Christmas (our media and marketing assistant) and is pursuing a calling to pastoral ministry.

Steve Coleman

Steve Coleman

Co-founder

Steve “Kahuna” Coleman was a member of Snowbird’s founding team and worked in student ministry for nearly 30 years. In the 1980s, Kahuna and his wife, Billie Fay, served in youth ministry at First Baptist Church in Woodstock, G.A. He followed his time there as a corporate chaplain. After six years, he and Billie Fay uprooted their lives and relocated to Andrews, North Carolina, to bring their vision of Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters to life. In 1997, the first group of students rolled onto the Snowbird property.

On Monday, August 22, 2022, Steve Coleman, went to be with the Lord. Steve, better known to the Snowbird family as, “The Big Kahuna,” was a man used by God to start a ministry that has now affected unknown thousands of people for the past 2 and a half decades. In light of his passing into the presence of our Savior, we wanted to take some time to celebrate his life and legacy.

The Big Kahuna was a larger-than-life personality with a contagious love for God and His Word. Please follow the link below to watch a video update from Brody and get the latest info on the public memorial service for the Big Kahuna.

Emma Bitler

Recreation Intern

Emma is from Virginia and is a Snowbird Institute student. She first came as a camper in 2018, and never thought that she would serve on staff, but she is happy with where the Lord has brought her. She started serving on Summer Staff and then decided to stay on as an intern.

Emma is excited to continue to be able to be a part of the intentional relationships that she developed with both staff and students that come through camp. She is also ready to sit under the biblical teaching of the Snowbird Institute classes

After Snowbird, Emma wants to pursue a missions term and take the Gospel to reach nations, and/or raise a family that fears the Lord and does the same from America.

Emily Brown

Emily Brown

Hospitality Intern

Emily has just recently graduated from Blue Mountain Christian University with a Bachelors in Christian Ministry. She attended as a camper from 2017-2019, served on Summer Staff in 2022, and then stayed to intern for two years.

As a young girl, Emily was saved at 9 years old, but remained complacent in her walk with the Lord until she was a junior in high school. Then, she began studying Scripture personally and has grown tremendously ever since.

Emily is most excited to continue to form relationships with students, to disciple and push them toward the goodness of the Gospel. She also loves living in a healthy community of believers. Emily plans to serve at SWO as long as the Lord calls her to stay, and later plans on serving in ministry either overseas or domestically.

Nason brown headshot
Nason Brown

Nason Brown

Recreation Intern

Nason came as a camper for five summers and came to the College Retreat and a Fall Retreat. What attracted Nason to work here was the opportunity to live and serve in a biblical community. He also loves investing in students’ lives and their walk with Christ.

Nason made a profession of faith at 9 years old, but lived a life of rebellion until 2019. He then realized that as believers we are called to act and live out faith in a sinful world. In that moment, he asked the Lord to truly save and help him live out the Gospel.

After SWO, Nason hopes to serve as a youth pastor in the near future.

Alex conti headshot
Alex Conti

Alex Conti

Maintenance Intern

Alex grew up in a family where multiple people worked on staff at SWO. When visiting, he was always running around with the camp kids. Alex anxiously awaited the day until he was old enough to work on staff as a young adult. After working the summer of 2023, he stayed on as an intern to continue ministry.

Alex got saved around 12 years old after his dad walked him through understanding the Gospel. Alex did not take his faith seriously, though, until he was 16. At that point, his eyes were opened to the state of rebellion that he was living in and he sought out discipleship and is now faithfully following the Lord.

Alex loved the vast opportunities he had to minister to teens and be discipled himself. He also loves that the Snowbird community is so driven by the Gospel. After SWO, he plans to pursue a career as an electrician.

Anna Duncan

Office Intern

Anna Kate is from South Point, OH. She came as a camper for many years and was interested in serving at SWO because of the community here. She found it exciting to work alongside like-minded believers and the opportunities of growth that would offer.

Anna Kate became a believer at the age of four and continued to grow in her relationship and love for the Lord. Through her life, she has seen the Lord’s faithfulness first-hand, and continues to pursue him faithfully everyday.

She was a camper for the first time in 2016, again in 2020-2022 and was on Summer Staff in 2023. When the Lord called here from Snowbird, she planned to get her nursing degree and to use that on the mission field in some type of way.

Brandon Entry is a second-year intern. He was introduced to Snowbird first as a camper through our SMO Missions Camp in 2020. Brandon, originally from Florida, came to serve at SWO because of his passion to invest in the younger students of this generation—and point them toward the Gospel.

Brandon became a Christian in 2020 after searching the Bible to better understand the Gospel. Then, he began to serve the Lord daily and advance the Gospel in any way he could. He is very involved with Pinwheel Tutoring, a local program that helps kids with school work and introduces them to the truths of Scripture.

Rebekah erekson headshot
Rebekah Erekson

Rebekah Erekson

Hospitality Intern

Like a lot of our staff, Rebekah is from Florida, and what caught her attention about SWO was how intentional and loving the staff were with students. She saw how much the staff loved and appreciated one another as well. The emphasis on biblical community and the way the staff serves alongside each other in ministry drew Bekah. She has now worked there since 2022 and is interning for her first year.

Rebekah was blessed to grow up in a Christina home and was the youngest of five girls. With her parents being missionaries from North Texas. All her life, she remembers going to church with her family and seeing her sisters involved. But, she didn’t see Jesus as a real person. Later in early high school, Rebekah committed her life to Christ after seeing how faithful the Lord was to her family when her mom was diagnosed with lung cancer.

She no longer saw a story, but an actual God that loved her during every season of her life.

What excites Rebekah to serve at SWO is watching the way that we are impacting the Church and equipping young believers to share the Gospel. After SWO, Rebekah plans on finishing her bachelors in Creative Arts Ministry.

For Channing, she came as a camper in 2019, was summer staff in 2023 and is now serving as a year-round intern. Channing while working here is most excited to be surrounded by other like-minded  believers and her opportunity to share the Gospel everyday.

Channing grew up in a Christian home and was introduced to the Gospel at a very young age. While her brother was 6 years old, he was diagnosed with cancer and then was treated at St. Jude for two years. During that time, Channing was saved by Jesus at Snowbird’s Summer Camp. She saw and realized the goodness of God’s sovereignty in every moment of her life, even when her brother was diagnosed with cancer. Despite everything that may be going on around her, she knows that the Lord will always have a plan.

After SWO, Channing simply wants to serve in whatever ministry God calls her to.

Allison fell in love with the opportunity to share the Gospel with students. She believes the atmosphere at SWO helps students open up and overcome fears.
