Great Books on Reaching the Unreached

The Gospel is our lifeblood here at Snowbird, so a passion for world missions runs just as deeply. Scores of former staff and students are serving in countries all over the world, some too dangerous to even mention. In supporting many of these missionaries, our passion to reach the ends of the earth has grown tremendously. God is reaching the unreached every day by using believers who are faithfully taking the torch of the Gospel. But there are still more who haven’t heard the good news of Jesus!

At the “SWO Underground” prayer chapel, students will have the opportunity to pray, write letters, and financially support several world mission projects at SWO13. Do not wait until then! Scripture is clear that a person cannot be gripped by the grace of Christ and simply not feel the urgency to tell others of Christ’s glorious message. We all must individually and corporately be so transformed by the Gospel that every part of who we are exists for the sake of sharing the Gospel with others. John Piper has said that we have three options: “Go, send, or disobey.” May we not give ourselves excuses and sit back as if Christ’s command does not apply to us! May we humbly and boldly take up our cross, and follow Christ to the nations–whether by going ourselves or sending others with your prayers and money. He has called us and He has equipped us.

Some books that God has used to work on the hearts of our staff:

Any 3Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime – Mike Shipman

Foxe’s Book of Martyrs – John Foxe

The Great Omission: Fulfilling Christ’s Commission Completely – Steve Saint

Jungle Pilot (story of Nate Saint) – Russell Hitt

Let the Nations Be Glad – John Piper

Operation World: The Definitive Prayer Guide to Every Nation – Jason Mandryk

Revolution in World Missions – K. P. Yohannon

Hudson Taylor’s Spiritual Secret – Howard Taylor

When Helping Hurts – Brian Fikkert

Read these books. Immerse yourself in the words of scripture. Get on your knees and plead for the souls of people who haven’t heard the name of Jesus. Send missionaries to these places. Go to the nations, and watch the power of the Gospel transform hearts and draw people to Himself.

“This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.”

(Acts 4:11-13)
