Rob Conti | Be Strong 2021 | Sunday Morning

The Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. Rather than giving us the punishment we deserve, He instead shows us grace and mercy for our sins. Today, Rob looks at Psalm 51 and what we can learn from David’s repentance. David commits adultery with Bathsheba and then has her husband, Uriah, killed in combat to cover up his sin. Any man would say that David deserved wrath. But God is not a man. He is patient with us and slow to anger.

In Psalm 51 we see David’s repentant heart and His plea for mercy. David pleads his case on the basis of the nature and character of God. However, God’s wrath still has to go somewhere. God lifts it off of us and places it on Christ so that we might become righteous. His blood is more powerful than any sin.

The consequences for our sins are temporary and God uses them to sanctify us. Let’s walk in repentance and share the hope we have in Christ.
