Ramadan prayer – India
Summary of India
Eighty percent of Indians are Hindu, but India still boasts the third largest Muslim population. Soon after India gained independence from Great Britain, Muslims desired to have their own region in which to worship — founding Pakistan and Bangladesh. India is one of the most diverse nations in the world — in both culture and geography. Along the coast, megacities like Mumbai boast infinite mixtures of race, culture, and religion. In contrast, Buddhist and Muslim villages scatter the Himalayas in isolated locations. Due to a low literacy rate and the plethora of languages, many in India don’t have access to God’s Word — especially in written form.
More than 2,300 of the 2,586 people groups are “unreached” by the Gospel. But, Christian missionaries and churches around the world continue faithful work in India. College-age students are building relationships in coffee shops. Young families are focusing on urban city centers. Couples are equipping church planters in hard-to-reach mountain villages. God is doing His work through His people. But, visas are getting harder to find and Christian workers all over the country are having to make the hard decision to return home and reapply.

Muslims – Muslims across India are fasting during Ramadan. Ask the Lord to guide their hearts and minds toward Christ during this time of heightened spiritual awareness. Pray that Indian Muslims will possess a new interest in the true identity of Jesus. Pray also that Christians in India will live and speak with the grace and boldness to which Christ calls. Pray for Indian Muslims in America, and ask the Lord to soften their hearts to the message of Jesus — and that He will provide opportunities for you to build friendships with Indian Muslims in your own community.
Missionaries – Pray for Christian missionaries in India. Ask God to fill them up with encouragement from brothers and sisters. Ask the Lord to connect them with persons of peace who are ready to repent and receive the Gospel — and that they will act as bridge builders into various pockets of the Indian people. Pray for governmental paperwork to be processed without hassle, and those missionaries will be able to find ways to build quick and deep relationships with India nationals.
