Meet Our New Proctors!

Meet our new proctors this semester! Amanda and Madeliene have been around Snowbird for sometime now and we are so excited to have them on our team for the Fall Semester.

Amanda first heard about OLD School through working at Snowbird as summer staff. She later became an intern through the SWO Institute and worked last spring as the OLD School intern. This is where her interest and love for OLD School really grew. She loved experiencing and observing the discipleship and the challenging nature of the program. Amanda has work for Snowbird for two years. She has a Bachelors in Psychology and a minor in Bible.

Amanda loves spending time outside with her friends swimming or hiking and she also loves to read. She was a canoeing instructor this summer and she has been training on the tower here at Snowbird. (She knows her “figure 8’s.”)

A couple of fun facts about Amanda:

  • She worked on a church planting team for three months in India last fall and her favorite Indian food is Chicken Biryani.
  • She loves to pass the time with her crochet needle in hand.

Madeliene learned about OLD School during her first visit as a student at Snowbird in 2008. After that week of camp she knew that she wanted OLD School to be a part of her future. In 2012 & 2013 Madeliene participated in the weeklong summer OLD School trips and her love for the outdoors grew tremendously. In summer of 2014 she worked at Snowbird as a part of the Servant Team (a 10-week discipleship program for younger summer staff) and continued to work as a counselor on summer staff the following three summers (2015-2017.)

After graduating college in May, Madeliene sought out opportunities to grow and serve in student ministry and OLD School offered the perfect combination of the outdoors and intentional-relational student ministry.

Madeliene is a trained whitewater rafting guide on the Nantahala River and a mountain biking instructor. She loves being on the water and the challenge of the mountain bike trails in our area. In her free time you can find her in her hammock by the creek curled up with a book and good cup of coffee or out running some wooded trails.

A couple fun facts about Madeliene:

  • She was a competitive swimmer for 12 years and LOVES anything water related.
  • She studied the Middle East and South Asia in college and really enjoys learning new languages.
