SWO Stories: Chestnut Mountain Ranch

Chestnut Mountain Ranch is a close partner in ministry with Snowbird. We love watching the work God is doing there in West Virginia as we have many connections to staff there. Former SWO staff, Bradley and Robin Clodfelter, are house parents at the ranch. Founder, Steve Finn, is a long-time friend of Snowbird and we’ve been able to watch his vision grow and bear fruit by the Lord’s guidance.

When we think of training boys biblically, we think of Chestnut Mountain Ranch. Since this ministry is so in line with Snowbird’s mission, we regularly seek out ways to equip CMR in the discipleship of their boys. The SWO Scholarship Fund has enabled these boys to attend summer camp at Snowbird for the past 5 years on both full and partial scholarships.

Some quotes from the CMR boys and staff:

(Snowbird) camp taught me how to be a godly man.

Best week of my summer.

Going to Snowbird is one of best highlights of our program at CMR, it’s a week the boys will never forget. (CMR Staff)

Great worship and great teaching. Challenged me to walk more like Jesus.

Snowbird was the best! Good worship, great music, good teaching.

A week the boys at CMR can be loved on by godly, college-age men.

SWO gives these young men strong biblical teaching and great worship.

Mission of Chestnut Mountain Ranch:

“Chestnut Mountain Ranch will establish an academic environment to motivate the student to use his gifts and abilities for God’s glory. (Prov. 22:6) Consistent encouragement, meaningful relationships and quality instruction will help the student and his family realize God’s purpose in every aspect of their lives and equip them to make sound choices.

Chestnut Mountain Ranch (CMR) is located just 6 miles south of Morgantown, West Virginia on 225 beautiful acres. The Ranch is a Christ-centered safe haven for boys and families in crisis… a place for family restoration, where boys can enjoy school again, and all can experience positive family values.” (quoted from www.chestnutmountainranch.org)
