Look Forward to the Second Coming!

“When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” – Colossians 3:4

For the Christian, Jesus Christ is our very life. In Philippians 1:21, where Paul writes “For me to live is Christ…” Here, Paul is reminding those in the Colossian church that they have been buried and raised with Christ in new life. “I am the resurrection and the life…” Jesus said (John 11:25). He doesn’t just give us life, He gives us Himself. Those who have repented and submitted to our Lord in faith can look forward with anticipation to the second return of Christ. When our life is His, then our citizenship is in Heaven—not this present world (Galatians 2:20, Philippians 3:20-21).

One day the sons and daughters of God will be gathered up to Him. Christ is coming back as King in all of His glory! The Son of God will claim those who are His, glorify them, and then bring them into His kingdom. Only those who are identified by life in Christ will be brought into Glory (2 Tim. 2:19). “We know that, when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him just as He is” (1 John 3:2). Paul refers to the final coming of The Kingdom of God and Christians being brought into heaven as sons and daughters of God. “Glory” describes our spiritual state in Christ Jesus. We will appear in pure glory, as Christ is fully glorious. Our sanctification will be completed by the glorious righteousness of Jesus in.

Look forward to the second coming of Jesus. The promise of His return is for our encouragement, joy, and hope. Christ is coming back for His people. His resurrection proved it and His final return with finish it!
