Jesus Called His Shot – Both of Them

Christ has risen! 1 Corinthians 15 reports that more than 500 people at one time. Dead people don’t come back to life. Even more so, they don’t precisely explain how, when, and why. Mark records three clear instances where the God-man, Christ Jesus, told His followers of the coming crucifixion and Resurrection. Had they not been clouded by their fleshly understanding, then they would have seen the type of king the Lord Jesus came to be. Rather, their hearts and minds remained veiled to the full glory of the Son of Man. This was the Messiah that OLD Testament writes had foretold about ever since the first reference of serpent’s head being crushed in Genesis 3.

“Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.” (Luke 24:44-48)

We know the resurrection of Christ was prophesied for thousands of years, and it happened just as He said it would. But how is the Resurrection of Jesus related to “all nations?” Jesus reminds His disciples that He not only told them of the impending death and Resurrection. He also prophesied (before His death) that the Gospel will be proclaimed to all tribes and tongues—claiming them as His witnesses.

Remember the Resurrection. Celebrate the empty tomb and the rock that was rolled away. Worship the immense glory of King Jesus! But when you meditate on these things, don’t forget that our Lord is still working towards His purpose. The Resurrection was not the end, but the beginning. It was the dawning of our Lord’s plan to redeem the nations for His glory! From the beginning of time, God has been working towards a new Heaven and a new Earth—a Kingdom composed of His children from every people group. Jesus called His second shot and He has commissioned us to participate in fulfilling this mission.
