Kat Nobles, Opened Eyes
Sometimes I think we forget about who is in authority of our lives as a Christian. We become so busy in the ministry we’re involved in, or treat our time in the Word and prayer with our Lord like a “set schedule” – just like school. We know we need to do our homework, but halfway care, giving it 50% effort or even less. We lose sight of what Jesus has done for us–how He rescued us from the darkness, brought us into the light, and made us new, ALIVE. Jesus opened our eyes! This is where I personally have found myself about a month ago, in the routine mode. Gotta’ do this, need to do that, but not allowing myself to BE STILL before the Lord to simply thank and praise Him for who He is, what He has done in my life, what He is doing, and what He will do. Sadly, it is an easy mindset to fall into. But the Lord is so GOOD. He is so faithful even in the mist of our disobedience. He is our healer, redeemer, deliverer, strength, shelter, friend, everlasting Father, the Spirit of Truth, our shield, hope, comfort, and more.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
I am sharing this with you to encourage you and show you that I, Katlyn Nobles or “Kat”, am not perfect. I was trying to be in authority of my own life, but you see as His daughter, I gave up my life to Him my junior year in High School. Surrendering your life to Christ is not a one-time deal. It is more like an every second of every day kind of thing. Your relationship with Jesus is not and should not be on your list of “To-Do’s” for the day. He should be the author of that list. God opened my eyes a few years ago of how I was dead in my own sin, and today He opens my eyes constantly to my own disobedience.
Thankful for His Truth,
Katlyn Nobles, SWO Intern
